Exploring a Human Heart to the Gravity on Jupiter @ Silas Wood

South Huntington STEM coach Ms. Mari Scardapane is at Silas Wood Sixth-Grade Center this week where all of the students are completing a science experiment using our zSpace STEM Lab. This cutting-edge 3D virtual reality technology supports the belief that learning is best experienced through doing.

The South Huntington Educational Foundation (SHEF) purchased zSpace that consists of 14 high definition workstations that uses glasses and a stylus to create an immersive educational experience.

Pictured are students from Mr. Poller and Mr. Beaumont’s classes.  Using a program called Newton’s Park, the students conducted their experiment in the simulated gravity of earth, the moon, and Jupiter.

Above:  The great thing about zSpace is the collaborative approach. At Silas Wood each workstation has two students, and they need to work together to problem solve. Those inquiry skills are second to none with a device like this.
