8 New York State Scholar Athlete Teams at Elwood

Student athletes excel in the classroom

The Elwood Union Free School District Athletic Department is proud to announce that all eight varsity Fall 2016 teams from Elwood-John H. Glenn High School were recognized as New York State Scholar Athlete teams based on their student GPA.

Over 100 student athletes on the teams qualified with a 90 percent average or higher and will receive a New York State Scholar Athlete pin for their hard work. The teams that were awarded include football, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys cross country, girls cross country, girls tennis, girls volleyball and boys golf.

“It is important that our athletes and coaches know that the student comes first in a student-athlete,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bossert. “They should all be very proud of this recognition.”
