| After calling veterinarian after veterinarian on Long Island, Gabriel Randall a retired veteran, who is currently unemployed, was turned away from every one. His family cat, TIGGER who lived with him, his wife and his children had a broken leg. TIGGER needed help ASAP. The family was desperate and the veterinarians who did offer some sort of help suggested TIGGER be put to sleep at only two years old, simply because the surgery cost was too much for the family to provide.
A relative suggested Mr. Randall call Little Shelter knowing we were in the area.
“When we received the call we knew we had to help this family” said David Ceely Executive Director of Little Shelter “we couldn’t let this family lose their beloved pet at any given time, especially around the holidays!”.
On Monday 12/5/16 Tigger was brought to Babylon Animal Hospital, the office of Little Shelter’s Medical Director, Dr. Liguori. To fix the leg, two pins needed to be permanently placed in Tigger’s leg to allow it to heal. Tigger’s prognosis is very good and will be able to return to the happy life he once knew, pain free, with his family.
Tigger was helped though a program that Little Shelter runs which helps families in need. The goal is to keep the animals who are loved with the families who love them. This eliminates pets being turned into the shelter system and those at risk of senseless eunthanasia.
Little Shelter is currently collecting donations to cover the cost of Tigger’s care.
