Student athlete scores big opportunity
The Northport-East Northport School District is pleased to announce that Northport High School senior Stephanie Rapp has recently been selected to play for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School Girls Soccer All-East Region team. In addition, Rapp has also been selected by Newsday to play for the 2016 Girls Soccer All Long Island Team.
To be chosen for the All-East Region team, the top Suffolk county players are voted on by Suffolk County coaches and then selected for All-State by a committee. The top All-State players are then selected for All-East Region.
Rapp is a four-year varsity player and a three-year starter as a center back. In the three years that she has played center back on the team, Northport was only scored on 13 times with Rapp in the game.
“She plays with more composure than any player I have ever coached,” said coach Aija Gipp. “She has been the anchor to our defense for the past three years and is going to be missed in the years to come.”
“I am incredibly proud of all that she has accomplished,” Gipp added. “We could not have won the County Championship without her.”
