The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a crash involving two vehicles on Jericho Turnpike and Old Country Road on December 31, 2016, at about 3:45 p.m. Firefighters used heavy rescue extrication tools to remove one of the victims from the crash. Three injured patients were transported to Huntington and Southside hospitals by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad. Under the direction of Assistant Chief Joe Williamson, 35 firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched with three heavy rescue trucks, three ambulances, first responder and paramedic units.
