Whitman HS Gets Awards From Distributive Education Clubs of America- (DECA)

Whitman DECA Delivers

Ms. Deanna Kluepfel, Walt Whitman High School DECA Advisor is happy to report that on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, forty-three DECA members attended the Regional Competition at Suffolk Community College. Whitman students have been preparing for weeks in areas of business such as: Job Interview, Sports Marketing, and Accounting Applications.

Top performers were awarded trophies in the following areas:

Jason Girard first place in Automotive Marketing

Joanne Nguyen and Rachel Vaughan first place in Travel and Tourism

Gabby Girard third place in Quick Serve Restaurant Management and

Ricky Hauser third place in Decision Making Marketing.

 

The following students received Honorable Mention trophies in their respective areas:

Nathan Blank in Principles of Marketing

Michael Seitz in Business Management and Administration

Jared Rosenthal in Principles of Finance

Natalie Ugenti in Principles of Hospitality & Tourism

Andrew Borges in Business Finance

Sarah Tabibzada in Hotel & Lodging Management

Kathleen Clark in Human Resources Management and

Ilana Desmond in Marketing Communications.

 

The following teams received Honorable Mention trophies in their respective areas:

Elliot Trester and Deanna Tabibzada in Business Law and Ethics

Jordan Roiland and Christina Bogdani in Hospitality Services

Joseph VanGostein and Tiffany Chuen in Hospitality Services

Kevin McKenna and Robert Posillico in Marketing Management and

Jaden Speter and Andrew Harrigan in Marketing Management. 

These DECA members qualify to attend DECA’s Annual State Career Conference in Rochester this March. Many thanks to Mr. Bilello, Ms. Hirsch-Beckman, Ms. Keinath, and Ms. Morrell for chaperoning this competitive event!
