“This year’s budget resolution is a promising sign of what we can accomplish if we work together, while also signaling an opportunity for compromise,” said Lupinacci. “Unfortunately, this year the Assembly Majority would like to add over $7 billion in new taxes that would strain New York families more than they already are. However, the budget does make major positive changes that include enhancing the Tuition Assistance Program, rejecting Governor Cuomo’s proposal to cap STAR, and increasing our investment into in hospital and emergency room services, nursing home services, and long term care. While this may only be the budget resolution, I’m confident the Assembly, Governor and Senate will reach an agreement that puts all New Yorkers first.”
