Dear Resident,
Registration is still open for the Town of Huntington’s 2017 Lenney Peters Junior Golf Tournament scheduled for this coming Wednesday, June 28 [Rain Date: June 29] at the Crab Meadow Golf Course in Northport.
For decades, the Town of Huntington sponsored the Lenney Peters Junior Golf Tournament at the Crab Meadow Golf Course to promote youth golf, sportsmanship and the love of the game. The popular event was founded and first held in 1967 by Crab Meadow’s first golf professional, Lenney Peters.
When Crab Meadow first opened in August of 1965, then Supervisor Robert J. Flynn tapped Mr. Peters as the club’s inaugural professional. Serving at the same time as the head golf professional at the Huntington Crescent Club, Mr. Peters was instrumental in setting a positive course for Crab Meadow. He was a true champion of the game and a fierce advocate of promoting youth golf.
The 18-hole stroke play event will be broken down into three divisions – Junior (boys and girls ages 10-14); Senior (boys and girls ages 15-17) and Elite (those possessing a MGA handicap).
The cost per player is $20 which includes a sleeve of golf balls, use of driving range, barbeque dinner and an awards ceremony.
The event is open to all Huntington children who qualify by age for the Junior and Senior Divisions and those up to the age of 17 possessing a MGA handicap.
I am hoping you can share the attached flyer and event info with your family and friends.
Players may register on-line at: www.HuntingtonNY.gov/LenneyPetersGolf or via phone by calling my office at: 631-351-3171
