HUNTER GROSS CONDEMNS DIRECT ATTACK FROM HUNTINGTON TOWN DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE ON DEMOCRACY AND ON THE DEMOCRATIC VOTERS IN THE TOWN OF HUNTINGTON

Hunter Gross, Democratic Candidate for Huntington Town Council, is disappointed, but not surprised that the Huntington Democratic Committee is challenging the validity of his more than double the amount of required signatures needed to run in the Democratic Primary on June 22, 2021.

“During a deadly pandemic, the Huntington Town Democratic ‘Machine’ has been doing what we’ve all come to expect: protecting their own interests from true democracy. It is completely clear my petitions are valid. I have secured more than double the amount required, and this challenge is nothing but an attempt to delegitimize a campaign that is challenging the status quo. According to their website, the HTDC talks about ‘keeping the machinery of democracy working properly’. If they truly believed in those values, let us run clean, open primaries and let the best candidates win. The voters should decide, not a select few party insiders.  Their website goes on to mention ’embracing inclusion, fairness, equality, and respect’. Clearly, they are not practicing what they preach,” said Gross.

“This is not just about MY campaign being challenged, this is about the true democratic process being stifled in order to protect the interests of a select few. We need a strong HTDC that represents the voices of all people, and the committee as it stands is failing to do so. I am calling on Frank Petrone, Chairman of the HTDC, to allow the democratic process to play out fairly, the way it was truly intended to.”
