Man Arrested for Leandra’s Law Deer Park Road and Alyssum Avenue, Dix Hills

Suffolk County Police last night arrested a man for Leandra’s Law for driving while intoxicated with two children in his vehicle in Dix Hills, Friday, July 16, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

A 911 caller, reported a man driving a 2010 Hyundai Sonata recklessly in Dix Hills, when a Suffolk County Police Second Precinct Patrol officer initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Deer Park Road and Alyssum Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. After failing a standardized field sobriety check, police arrested the driver, Jack Miller. Miller had his 2-year-old and 5-year-old daughters in the vehicle.

Miller, 31, of 1012 Moore Road, West Deptford, New Jersey was charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law) and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The children were released to their grandmother.

Miller, will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 17.

 

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
