Man Seriously Injured in Motor-Vehicle Crash Eastbound Long Island Expressway, near Exit 52, Dix Hills

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor-vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Dix Hills the morning of Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:35 a.m..

Koray Kurulgan was operating a 2005 MINI Cooper eastbound on the Long Island Expressway, near Exit 52, when the vehicle crashed into the back of a tractor trailer that was parked on the right shoulder, at 1:35 a.m.

Kurulgan, 30, of Staten Island, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in critical condition. The driver of the tractor trailer, Abdule Williams, 43, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was not injured.

The Cooper was impounded for a safety check and the tractor trailer was inspected at the scene by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers.
