Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington Station early this morning, Sunday, September 5, 2021 at approximately 2:30 a.m..
Ishmael Haughten was driving a 2017 Toyota Highlander northbound on New York Avenue, just north of East 12th Street, when his vehicle struck a male pedestrian who stepped into the lane of travel at approximately 2:30 a.m.
The pedestrian, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Haughten, 64, of Brooklyn, was not injured.
The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the pedestrian’s identity or the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
