It is with great pride that we announce that Commack High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School for Exemplary High Performance 2021. This honor is extra special as it was based on the school’s continued academic performance, outstanding graduation rates, and the strength of its curriculum and programs during the pandemic. The extreme passion and work ethic of every member of our high school staff family, many of them Commack graduates, along with the strong foundation laid by all those who have come before us, steeped in Commack tradition, is acknowledged through this honor.
“Our school serves as the hometown main street, the glue that keeps our community together where students cherish the past, explore the present, and build for 21st century successes. Through one of the most challenging years ever, we continued to offer access and opportunity, choice and challenge in all of our inclusive programs. Our students focused on their rigorous academics, creativity, communication, explored their passions through athletics, music, and art, and enjoyed technical and trade opportunities,” stated Leslie Boritz, the former principal of Commack High School. “We pride ourselves on our model of continuous improvement, providing academic choice and challenge through robust offerings of college and career preparatory programs to support students’ future pathways. Remarkably, ninety-eight percent of our students participate in at least one college-level course and over seventy-six percent participate in five or more college-level courses by graduation.
We are so proud of our students and staff!!”
Our students are shaped through innovative, state of the art teaching and project-based learning opportunities while enjoying their passions. Students are highly involved in over 85 student-led organizations, which are tied to community service opportunities which help our students to become caring, open-minded, and respectful of others. The District has established career pathways, and wrapped students with social emotional support.
Mrs. Boritz continued, “We live and love being #CommackStrong, being a family who cares and loves one another, and we are so proud of this outstanding level of recognition.”
