HYPOCRISY AND THE QUESTION NOT ANSWERED

PATCH OCTOBER 2021 CANDIDATE PROFILE :REBECCA SANIN

 

QUESTION:  DOES ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY WORK IN POLITICS OR GOVERNMENT? 

 

ANSWER:  NOBODY IN MY FAMILY WORKS FOR THE TOWN OF HUNTINGTON. 

 

A deflection? Yes.     Was there a reason for Ms. Sanin not answering the question?

 

After reviewing See through New York files for Rebecca Sanin’s husband, Jairo Sanin, that name

is listed as a Town of Huntington employee in 2020 as Office Staff. The list of many other  

political or governmental positions held by Jairo Sanin in the last ten years include :

 

• Suffolk County :  Paid  position 2012,2013,2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

 

There are indications the County employment was with the Board of Elections, supposedly full

time county employment for active members of  major political parties.

 

• Town of Huntington : Paid positions  2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020

 

• New York State Senate : Paid position regional coordinator 2010, 2011

For five years, (2015-2019), then, Jairo Sanin received paychecks from both full time  Suffolk

County Board of Elections employment and employment with the Town of Huntington.  We

presume Ms. Sanin was aware of this five year arrangement as of 2021.

 

                                                         THE HYPOCRISY

 

A separate reason for Ms. Sanin’s deflection on the original Patch question  was

to set up her closing point. Ms. Sanin stated that as to the Town of Huntington,

“Town Hall has become a hiring hall for patronage positions with people who are not

qualified…”. That broad base attack would appear to include her family member.

 

It is a cause for shame her answer on the initial question was not similarly broad based.
