5500+ signatures submitted to the town board against the project
4593 property’s/parcels in the Elwood school district
1 Acre Zoning agreed by the citizens group of James Cameron, Richard Ward, Loretta Hamman, Mary Jane Mackey, and Tom Van de Merlen represented the community at the meetings behind closed doors
Town Officials who voted yes (EDWARDS, BERLAND, PETRONE, CUTHBERTSON) stated that the citizens group agreed to the 256 units
Jim Cameron stated”What we agreed upon was to lay down our swords so we can have an open and honest negotiation in good faith. We did not agree and said we would not endorse any proposal outside 1 acre zoning. However, we would at the request of the supervisor sit down and talk. We did and when asked for an endorsement, we refused because it was not our decision to make.” Jim was talking about the 5,000 people whom disagreed and signed on the dotted line.
Normal procedure is to have all public comments listened to, then they vote on each item. Last night that was not done and the vote on the project took place and no citizen was allowed to voice his or her opinion for the last time before the vote, either for or against.
So now that you have a little background on this, watch the video and decide for yourself if Democracy died in Huntington last night.

We’ll to all that voted for Petrone you got what you deserved. Mr Cook at least follows the democratic rule, Mr Petrone does what he wants like Obama. Cook lost by such a small amount of votes, thigs could have been different, they lied about his statements just before the election. Petrone is a bum. I ask that all of you vote out Susan Berland in her bid for re election. She has Frank Petrone as her bully while she acts like rouge board member. The people have not spoken but will at election time.
