Train & Car Collide At Park Ave Crossing

Update: The road has been reopened as of 2:00 p.m.

An accident took place earlier today between a train and car at the crossing on Park Avenue north of Pulaski Road.  A late model 5 Series BMW tried to cross the tracks after the rail crossing were lowered.

Huntington Superintendent Jim Polansky sent out an alert stating there may be delays on some of the afternoon transportation routes, as it will likely take time for the accident scene to be cleared.

One Response to Train & Car Collide At Park Ave Crossing

  1. One would have to be incredibly ignorant to continue past the gates with the red lights flashing to get stuck on the tracks. There is ample warning before the gates are lowered. What was this driver thinking? This caused massive traffic jams and prevented ambulances and school buses from traveling this major artery. I only hope the driver was cited and her drivers license suspended. But, no wait…the Suffolk PD is too busy giving out cell phone and seat belt tickets to make money for the county right now…..
