The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a box truck and three cars on Commack Road and Pine Hill Lane at about 3:35 p.m. on March 30.
About 20 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with two heavy rescue trucks, a pumper and three ambulances, under the command of Captain Karl Krage. Firefighters used the heavy rescue “Jaws of Life” tool to remove a door on one of the vehicles. Three occupants suffered injuries, with one being airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk Police medevac helicopter that landed at Otsego Park. The remaining two patients were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad.
The Greenlawn Fire Department assisted with a standby by ambulance during the call.
