Dix Hills FD Responds to Garage Fire

Dix Hills Fire Department volunteers were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at a house on Dulce Lane, Sunday morning, April 19, at about 9:50 a.m.  First arriving firefighters found a light smoke condition and quickly located the fire in an attached garage. Firefighters went to work battling the blaze, which was brought under control within a half-hour, led by Chief Robert Fling and Third Assistant Chief Joe Williamson.

Fifty firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with six trucks, two ambulances, first responder and paramedic units. The Greenlawn and Deer Park fire departments assisted at the scene, with the Melville Fire Department and Huntington Community First Aid Squad providing standby coverage for Dix Hills during the alarm.

The fire damage was contained to the garage and contents, with smoke damage to the remainder of the home. The fire appears to be accidental in origin, and is under investigation by the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal.  There were no injuries reported.

This is the ninth house fire that the Dix Hills Fire Department has responded to this year, with the last one occurring on April 4, 2015.
