Regional Leaders Announce Regionally Transformative Economic Development Plan

Suffolk Leaders will meet at 10:45 a.m. today (June 16, 2015) at the Charles E. Wang Center, Stony Brook University, 100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY. 

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone will join regional leaders at a special meeting of the Long Island Regional Planning Council to announce a transformative economic development plan to create the Long Island Innovation Zone (I-Zone), which will connect existing and planned transit-oriented downtowns between the region’s world-class research centers, universities and job centers.

For the first time top elected officials in Suffolk County, at multiple levels of government and leaders of the region’s top research institutions, have come together to develop and support a comprehensive, regionally transformative plan to create jobs by connecting the cornerstones of our innovation economy and reverse the brain drain.
