Ex-Chief James Feeley recently celebrated his 50th anniversary of dedicated service with the Centerport Fire Department. Feeley was recognized for his outstanding service at a department meeting, and a commemorative cake was served in his honor. He has held the rank of Chief of the Department twice – first in 1984-1985, then went up through the officers ranks again to become Chief in 2000-2001. Feeley also served a term on the Board of Fire Commissioners and started the Centerport FD Dive Team while he was Chief in 1985. He is a former EMT and served for 28 years on the Centerport Rescue Squad.
