UPDATE:

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in Huntington Station early this morning.

Second Precinct police officers responded to the area of West Hills Road and President Street after a 911 caller reported a shooting at approximately 1:35 a.m. When officers arrived they discovered Nelson Hernandez lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his back.

An investigation by Second Squad detectives revealed that Hernandez was shot by unknown person(s) while he was walking on West Hills Road near President Street. Hernandez, 22 of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital in serious condition.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Original Story: An unidentified man was shot in his back around 1:35am last night in Huntington Station according to reports, this happened on NY Avenue. SCPD Detectives are investigating the shooting.  The unidentified man was taken to to Huntington Hospital in serious condition according to police and no further word about his condition or is identity is known right now.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation continues according to police.
