There are many of us who live in Huntington who feel that its time to stand up and say, “enough is enough”. Our grassroots movement believes that our town and local government belong to all of us, not to just a handful of billionaire developers and career politicians.
I am a loyal, registered Working Families member who strongly supports all county and local unions. For this reason, I have decided to run for Huntington Town Board. I believe that the promise of our democracy has been broken when the views of a single, wealthy donor has carried more weight than the needs of thousands of hard working families in our town. It frightens me when an incumbent seeks the endorsement of a small party line to strengthen the chances of being re-elected, but does not share the same beliefs and principles of that party.
My decision to commit myself to this cause has come over time after having met with many members of our community, many of whom have shared my fight of having to have lived paycheck to paycheck with the haunting thought of the possibilities of loosing our home.
As your representative on the Town Council, I will work tirelessly to ensure that we confront these challenges head on, pursuing the best solutions for them. On Thursday, September 10th, I will run, hoping to be victorious in a Working Families primary. I welcome your feedback and ask for your vote.
Sincerely,
Charles Marino
Candidate for Huntington Town Board
