The Huntington Manor Fire Department, Suffolk Police and Huntington Community First Aid Squad (HCFAS) responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and car on East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, Saturday, September 5, at around 11 a.m.
The motorcycle burst into flames following the crash and was extinguished by Huntington Manor firefighters. The motorcyclist suffered severe burns on approximately 10% of his body. An IV was established and he was treated with pain medication while being transported to Nassau University Medical Center.
The crash occurred opposite the Best Market Shopping Center and closed traffic on East Jericho Turnpike between Beverly Road and Totten Avenue. About 25 Huntington Manor firefighters responded with three engines and a heavy rescue truck, under the direction of Chief Frank McQuade and Assistant Chiefs Mike DePasquale and Chuck Brady.
