The East Northport Fire Department held their 14th annual September 11th Memorial Service at their 9/11 Memorial Monument, set around an eight-foot, 8,000 pound Steel Beam from the World Trade Center. Chief Wayne Kaifler Jr. welcomed the community and firefighters, followed by an Opening Prayer from Chaplain William Bootz.  The sirens were sounded to mark the time of the South Tower collapse, which was followed by the reading of all victims’ names.  The sirens were again sounded to mark the collapse of the North Tower.  An engine with a Memorial Banner listing all the 9/11 victims proceeded under the flag-draped arch of East Northport and Northport ladder trucks. The Northport High School Tights sang the National Anthem and America the Beautiful. The Marine Corps League fired a 21-gun salute and Amazing Grace was played by the Northport Pipe Band.

Firefighters from East Northport and local departments took part in the 9/11 Memorial Service.  Firefighters read the name of all the 9/11 victims during the service at the East Northport Fire Department.
