The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a barbecue fire that spread to the exterior of a home on Villanova Lane, Saturday, September 26, at around 6:40 p.m. Nearly 30 Dix Hills volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel were dispatched with four engines and two ambulances, under the direction of Assistant Chiefs Tom Napolitano and Joe Williamson.
The fire was quickly brought under control, and there were no injuries reported. The damage was confined to the rear exterior and roof eaves at the rear of the home. Residents are reminded to use caution while barbecuing, and keep barbecues a safe distance from the home.
