The Huntington Manor Fire Department responded to a fire at the Lincoln Farms Apartments on First Avenue and East 9th Street in Huntington Station, Monday, October 19, at 10:22 a.m. Huntington Manor firefighters helped evacuate residents, including two that were handicapped and elderly. Firefighters opened up all 30 apartments in the three-story building to check for occupants. 35 firefighters using six trucks had the blaze brought under control within 40 minutes, under the command of Chief Frank McQuade and Assistant Chiefs Jon Hoffmann and Chuck Brady. The fire was confined to a second floor apartment which was heavily damaged. About five other apartments were affected by smoke and water damage, and the heat and electric was shut down to the entire building.  The Greenlawn Fire Department assisted at the scene, with the Melville Fire Department providing standby coverage. Over 20 people were displaced from the building and were assisted by the Red Cross and Suffolk County OEM, which used the nearby St. Hugh’s Church as a temporary shelter.  There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire appears accidental, and is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal
