Man Shot in Dix Hills

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that critically injured a man in Dix Hills.

On Friday, November 20, 2015, Second Precinct police officers responded to 46 Melrose Ave. at 9:17 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a shot had been fired into the home. When officers arrived, they determined Louis Speaight had been shot in the chest after answering the door of the home.

Speaight, 27, of Norfolk, Virginia, was transported to Southside Hospital by Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue where he was listed in critical condition following surgery.
