Sunshine Toy Drive Underway at Dix Hills Fire Department

The Sunshine Toy Drive has started collecting donations of toys for the holiday season. Victoria Plumitallo, a 17-year-old high school student from Dix Hills, had a desire to help as many needy children as possible receive holiday gifts since she was a fourth grader.  Assisted by her parents, Dix Hills Fire Commissioner Mike Plumitallo and his wife Hope, the Toy Drive was created nine years ago and has helped thousands of less fortunate local children during the holidays.

Derived from her nickname “Sunshine”, Victoria’s idea grew into the Sunshine Toy Drive hosted by the Dix Hills Fire Department. New children’s toys and clothing items may be left at the Dix Hills Fire Department Headquarters at 115 East Deer Park Road, just north of the Northern State Parkway.

Donations may be brought to the dropbox at the firehouse, anytime day or night. Any questions, please call Hope Plumitallo at 516-807-4044.
