Arrest Made in Huntington Village Murder

On May 25 2016, Second Precinct police officers responded to Clinton Avenue in Huntington at 3:17 a.m. after a 911 caller reported that a man was unconscious and covered in blood. When officers arrived, they found Edwin Rivera lying on the ground next to his 2015 Mercedes.

Rivera, 39, of Bay Shore, was transported by Huntington Community First Aid Squad to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death has been ruled criminal and an autopsy will be performed by members of the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause.

Today May 26, 2016 Suffolk County Police have arrested a Samuel White, 32, of Brentwood, for the murder of Edwin Rivera. Homicide Squad detectives charged White with Manslaughter 1st Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 26, 2016.
