EDITORS NOTE: The following was a post on social media and this is something that those of you who enjoy these off road machines should read.
“Ok. Just learned some stuff about our local dirt-bike / quad, boys. Remember last week when a youngster, posted on one of those quad threads about “bike life” or something to that effect? They have their own fb and websites, designed to lure in, unsuspecting youngsters, that share their same ideologies of bikes and quads. They talk to them, get to know them, find out what they own and where they live and then rob them. There are a few “pods”, of these guys, running around all of our neighborhoods. The one by me, just got busted. I highly doubt, thats all of em. There is a known bunch, in the Greenlawn area, South Huntington/Melville and Northport/E.Npt., as well. Tell your kids, friends, whoever you know who has these toys, about this. This is how they find out, where and when to steal. I have no problem with riding and enjoying these toys, I grew up with them and bought them for my own children. I have a huge problem with the stealing them, part. Thats just bs! Keep an eye out and pass it on. See something, call the police. They’re ruining it, for everyone. “
