Elwood Executive Director Named Administrator of the Year Awarded by WSBOCES

The Elwood Union Free School District is pleased to announce that Gene Tranchino, executive director for administrative and instructional technology/transportation, has been named the 2015-16 Model Schools Administrator of the Year by Western Suffolk BOCES.

To be eligible for this award, building or district level administrators must be nominated for his or her effort to promote professional develop for teachers and administrators, provide support for the instructional technology needs of teachers and students and work to create an educational environment that encourages students to be 21st century learners.

Nominated by Elwood Middle School Principal Hugh Gigante, Tranchino received the designation for his valuable contributions and commitment to the growth of instructional technology. He was presented with an award plaque during the WSBOCES Model Schools Celebration Brunch held on June 7.

“Our Western Suffolk BOCES Model Schools group is comprised of information technology directors that are committed to promoting the effective use of technology in teaching and learning,” said Tranchino. “It is a great honor to receive this award.”

The district extends its congratulations on this prestigious recognition.
