In its continuing efforts to strengthen the services it provides to youth, families and communities impacted by terrorism and traumatic loss here in the United States and around the globe, Tuesday’s Children announces the appointment of Lisa Oosterom as Chief Financial and Operations Officer and Alison Silberman as Director of Programs and Strategic Initiatives. The appointments are effective immediately.
In her new post Oosterom, a Huntington, NY resident, will oversee all financial management, human resources, administration, database and technology. A seasoned professional in nonprofit administration, she will be involved in strategic planning, program evaluation, fundraising and organizational development initiatives. Prior to joining Tuesday’s Children, Oosterom worked as a Program Administrator at Stony Brook Medicine’s Research Foundation.
Silberman, a resident of Ditmas Park, Brooklyn, brings a breadth of experience in policy development and program management. She will work to expand Tuesday’s Children’s local and national program offerings promoting long-term healing in children and families of victims, responders and military service members. Prior to joining Tuesday’s Children, Silberman worked at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, where she led program management and designed and implemented a strategic plan for its advocacy and education programs.
Terry Sears, Executive Director of Tuesday’s Children, said, “As Tuesday’s Children continues to expand our mission and serve more populations, the diverse backgrounds of Lisa and Alison will help us better engage and serve our communities. Their presence will make Tuesday’s Children stronger and more accessible to more and more diverse groups. Their dedication, compassion, and expertise will serve us well, and we are excited to see all that we can accomplish with them at our side.”
Oosterom said, “I am excited to be working with such a dedicated group of people who have a mission that I believe in whole-heartedly. I look forward to witnessing the lives that will be positively affected by the work done at Tuesday’s Children.”
“It is one of my passions to empower others through interactive and thoughtful programming. I am honored to join the Tuesday’s Children team, and am eager to work with their communities,” said Silberman.
Founded in Manhasset by family and friends of 9/11 victims, Tuesday’s Children has made a long-term commitment to provide programs and support to every individual impacted by September 11, 2001 and, more recently, those from around the globe who have lost a loved one to an act of terrorism, violent extremism or war.
For almost 15 years, Tuesday’s Children has provided a range of programs. Working with recognized leaders in the fields of child development, family advocacy, crisis counseling and mentoring, the organization has developed an innovative platform of programs to meet the changing needs of thousands of individuals they serve.
