Man Arrested for DWI After Driving Wrong Way on Westbound Long Island Expressway, near exit 52, Commack

Suffolk County Police arrested a Bellrose man for driving while intoxicated after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway early this morning Tuesday , September 6, 2016 at approximately 2:20 a.m.

Following multiple 911 calls regarding a wrong way driver, Highway Patrol Bureau and Canine Section officers responded to the westbound LIE near exit 52 where Canine Section Officer Ralph Fuellbier was able to locate the wrong-way vehicle.

Ivan Ceron, who was driving a 2010 Nissan eastbound in the westbound HOV lane, was arrested by Highway Patrol Bureau Officer John Pilkington and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Ceron was also issued summonses for driving the wrong way, driving an unregistered vehicle and operating a motor vehicle below the minimum posted speed limit.

Ceron, 23, of 88-49 237 St., was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip September 6, 2106.


A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
