County Executive Bellone and Police Commissioner Sini To Swear In New Class of Police Recruits

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini will swear in the 169th class of police recruits at 9am on Monday, October 3, 2016 to become police officers at the Police Academy SCCC Grant Campus Lecture Hall. The recruits will begin their 29-week training at the Suffolk County Police Academy.

The academy class of 119 recruits include 115 men and women who will become Suffolk County police officers and four recruits who will join partner law enforcement agencies.

Twenty of the recruits are Hispanic, the most for the department since records became available in 2000. Ten percent of the recruits speak fluent Spanish.

Additionally, there are 19 female recruits, which is the 5th largest amount since 2000. The most female recruits came in 2001 with 24.
