Long Island High School for the Arts celebrates Visiting Lecturers: Jazz Dance Instructor Laura Bagdziunas of Huntington

Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) boasts some of the most talented and experienced arts educators in the region. In addition to its core faculty of industry experts, LIHSA has a team of 20 Visiting Lecturers consisting of working professionals in the school’s four basic disciplines — dance, music, theater and film. Among them is Laura Bagdziunas of Huntington, who teaches jazz dance.

 

Ms. Bagdziunas is Lead Choreographer for The Lawrence Eisman Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College. She has performed in ShakespeArts productions of The Tempest and Twelfth Night, the Long Wharf Theatre production of Our Town, and works by several critically acclaimed choreographers including Twyla Tharp, Christopher d’Amboise, Mark Morris and Pascal Rioult. She is a member of the HITFest Theater Company, ShakespeArts, Yellow Brick Road Theatrical Inc. and Mad Cap Dance Company.

Ms. Bagdziunas has studied under the direction of a number of Broadway stars including Tony Award winner Scott Wise and Tony Award nominee Elizabeth Parkinson. A LIHSA alumna, she holds a BFA in dance from Marymount Manhattan College and has trained at the renowned Variations dancer studio.
