Three Men Arrested after Menacing Clerk; Illegal Loaded Weapons Seized

Suffolk County Police arrested three men in Melville after one man threaten to kill a clerk on February 14. 2017. Two illegal loaded guns were seized too.

Hector Gonzalez entered the 7-Eleven, located at 837 Walt Whitman Road, and asked to purchase cigarettes at approximately 11:05 a.m. The clerk denied the request because Gonzalez did not have proper identification. Gonzalez went into his car and returned, accompanied by two other males, with what appeared to be a gun in his waistband. Gonzalez then threatened to kill the clerk. The clerk wrote down the license plate of the vehicle the men arrived in, and one of the males, Oscar Madrid, pulled the note out of the victim’s hand. Gonzalez, Madrid and the third man, Timothy Flythe, fled in a vehicle that Gonzalez’ mother was driving.

After the men fled, the victim called 911. A Melville Fire Department paramedic who was listening to the police scanner observed the suspects’ vehicle and notified police of their location. The vehicle was pulled over by First Precinct officers near Route 110 and Route 109 in Farmingdale at approximately 11:19 a.m.

Further investigation revealed two illegal loaded handguns in the vehicle belonged to Flythe. Flythe was arrested last June for stealing multiple ATV’s read full story here: According to court records he was out on his own Recognizance with sentencing slated for February 27, 2017 and this new charge will have him going away for a longer sentence.

Gonzalez, 26, of 3^rd Ave., Huntington Station, was charged with Menacing 2^nd Degree and a bench warrant. Flythe, 18, of Pulaski Road, Huntington Station, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd Degree. Oscar Madrid, 18, of 10^th St., Huntington Station, was charged with Grand Larceny 4^th Degree.

All three men are being held at the Second Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 15, 2017.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
