The Melville Fire Department responded to a three-car motor vehicle accident on Ruland Road near Country Pointe Court on Sunday, March 5, at about 12:50 p.m. Melville firefighters used heavy rescue tools and removed the driver’s door from a BMW to free one of the victims. Two injured patients were transported to Huntington Hospital by the Melville Rescue Squad. About 25 fire/rescue personnel were dispatched with three ambulances, a heavy rescue truck, an engine, fire police and paramedic unit, under the direction of Chiefs Bernfeld, Nolan, Kaplan and Schmitt.
