The Melville Fire Department and Suffolk Police responded to an accident involving a pickup truck and a car in front of the U.S. Postal Service Processing Center on Duryea Road, Wednesday night, April 5, 2017, at about 10:30 p.m. Melville firefighters used heavy rescue tools to remove the door from a pickup truck and extricate the driver.
Both drivers were injured and transported to Plainview and Huntington Hospitals by the Melville Rescue Squad. About 25 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with a heavy rescue truck, three ambulances, and paramedic responder under the direction of Chiefs Chris Nolan and David Kaplan.
