The Huntingtonian Shedding Light on the Town of Huntington

The following is the address that Huntington School Board President Emily Rogan gave at the 151st Huntington High School Graduation Ceremony.

I write this letter with gratitude for the support that you have provided me and for each other throughout 2011-2012.

Huntington High School students have joined the army battling the dreaded disease and taken a lead role in the struggle by organizing a sprawling extravaganza that kicks off late Saturday afternoon at Blue Devil Stadium and continues overnight before wrapping up early Sunday morning.
It’s the first completely student run Relay event in the county.

In the Huntington School district, the J. Taylor Finley Middle School National Junior Honor Society chapter inducted 91 current seventh graders into its ranks during a Monday evening ceremony. The ceremony included many traditional elements, including a candle lighting segment and a member pledge.

Dear Huntington School District Residents:

I’d like to express my sincerest thanks to the Huntington community for supporting the 2012-2013 school district budget. As a result of this support, we will maintain our ability to provide a high quality education for our students in a fiscally responsible manner. Additionally, as a result of community support for the capital proposition, we will be able to make needed improvements to buildings throughout the district with no effect on the tax rate. I further extend my appreciation to all who assumed an active role and provided input during the budget development process.
